Description:

The geographic representation of lands identified as Aborigional Title under the CTUIR v. Maison II and CTUIR v. Maison III court cases in the State of Oregon US District Court for Oregon. Specifically, the court ruled that the state could not regulate tribal members' hunting on unclaimed lands lying within the Tribes' large court-defined aboriginal lands. The court also ruled that tribal members could also hunt free from state regulation in some areas located outside of the Confederated Tribes' aboriginal lands. This was also upheld by the Ninth Circuit court for the US Court of Appeals.

To identify the area of land where CTUIR tribal members have unopposed rights to hunt and gather foods on open and unclaimed lands. This is merely a geographic dataset used for representation of those areas and may not be complete. No claim is made for the accuracy or completenees of this geographic dataset.
