Description: For the Geography 464 Class at CSULA | Using data from ACLED, this map is displaying where violence resulting in fatalities is a problem across Africa in 2016. The red or blue color of the points represent the spatial significance of that point. This means whether or not they are close together or far apart. This was achieved through the use of Hotspot Analysis. Before looking at the relationships between occurances of violence, I used the Incremental Spatial Autocorrelation Tool. This is a tool used to determine whether or not the crime points are related to each other over space. In creating a map like this, this tool is an important first step that tells you whether or not the data is random. To create a GIS map like this, the data can not be random and instead should have a spatial relationship.
Technical Information: A Fixed Distance of 504300 was determined and used to perform the Getis-Ord-Gi* Analysis (Hotspot).
