Description:

The Regional Forest and Fire Capacity program aims to increase regional capacity to prioritize, develop, and implement projects to improve forest health and fire resilience and increase carbon sequestration in forests throughout California. This is a California Natural Resources Agency program administered by the Department of Conservation. The Regional Forest and Fire Capacity Program tier 1 areas are based on the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's Fire and Resource Assessment Program (FRAP) 2018 version (cnty 18_2) of California Counties GIS data, the North Coast Regional Partnership, and Sierra Nevada Conservancy boundaries. Small coastal islands are included, however the California Channel Islands and the Farallon Islands are excluded. The San Francisco-San Pablo Bay, Grizzly Bay, and other nearby water boundaries are excluded and based on the California Department of Conservation, Farmland Mapping and Monitoring Program Important Farmland data.

The North Coast Resource Partnership represents the North Coast Integrated Regional Water Management Plan boundary. That boundary was downloaded from https://northcoastresourcepartnership.org/data/. The Sierra Nevada Conservancy boundary was downloaded from the California Geoportal.
