Description: This feature layer is used to
display post mile locations in Caltrans District 9 on a digital map display, or to query for the
purposes of finding a specific location reference by county, route, and
post mile value. Prefixes and suffixes for post miles are included where applicable. The source of data is the Caltrans TSN
(Transportation System Network) database.
As presented here, post miles are valid point geometries shown at four different mile intervals,
based on the Caltrans Linear Referencing System:
- Deca Post Miles (10-Mile Interval)
- Whole Post Miles (1-Mile Interval)
- Tenth Post Miles (0.1 or 1/10th Mile Interval)
- Hundredth Post Miles (0.01 or 1/100th Mile Interval)
Exceptions that are included
are the beginning and ends of routes (and other situations) that don't
necessarily correspond to expected values in the above-mentioned mile intervals. The geometry is based
upon the extraction from TSN on 10 October 2022.
