Description: <p>The Siwalik Group Garnet Database (SGGD v1.0) contains detrital garnet analyses from Siwalik Group and Pre-Siwalik sedimentary units used for provenance comparison with the HGAD. Siwalik Group localities in Nepal include Muksar Khola, Tinau Khola, Karnali River, and Surai Khola. The database also includes two Pre-Siwalik Kasauli Formation samples from NW India. These samples represent the currently available detrital garnet compositional dataset for the Siwalik and Pre-Siwalik source-to-sink comparison.</p>
Copyright Text: Group localities in Nepal are from along the Muksar Khola (n = 889; Rai et al., 2021), Tinau Khola (645; Nakajima et al., 2020; Yoshida et al., 2021), Karnali River (564; Nakajima et al., 2020), and Surai Khola (455; Catlos et al., 2025) (Figure 1). We include data from two samples, each containing seven garnets, from the Pre-Siwalik Kasauli Formation in NW India (Najman & Garzanti, 2000).

The dataset integrates standard electron microprobe (EPMA) garnet data published in tables or supplementary files in 167 peer-reviewed papers, six theses (Catlos, 2000; Chambers, 2008; From, 2012; Prince, 2000; Saha, 2020; Stahr, 2013), and one database (Chiama et al., 2022). HGAD is not intended to be a comprehensive dataset of all Himalayan garnet compositions, but rather to provide a robust, representative dataset suitable for evaluating trends and for comparing compositions with those available from the Siwalik Group.
Description: <p>HydroRIVERS drainage networks are included to provide a hydrologic context for HGAD source localities and Siwalik provenance matches. Because many HGAD garnets were collected along or near major river systems where fluvial incision exposes bedrock, river networks help evaluate spatial relationships among garnet localities, drainage pathways, and proximal High-Similarity matches.</p>
