The Centerline dataset is a set of linear features representing the approximate centerline of street Right-Of-Ways (ROWs) throughout the City of Milwaukee (City) and for which the City is responsible for maintaining. Although this dataset has historically been maintained to accurately represent official street ROWs as outlined in the City's Code of Ordinances, it has also been updated to include unofficial or private ROW's that may fall outside the City's jurisdiction but are critical in supporting City operations. The dataset was originally created from the United States Census Bureau's (Census) Dual Independent Map Encoding (DIME) data that was created to efficiently store geographical data throughout the United States of America. The Centerline data was specifically built from the Master Address File (MAF) Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER) / Line data that was created to store data describing linear physical and cultural features such as roads, highways, city limits, rivers and lakes.

DATA DICTIONARY:<br />OBJECTID: An ESRI maintained unique identification number for each record. Please note that some geoprocessing tools can alter the OBJECTID<br />StreetId: Foreign key link to the "Streets" dataset that maintains a list of unique street names in the City<br />SegmentTypeId: Foreign key link to a lookup table the denotes the following segment types<br /> 1 - FLOATERS - Provides road centerline based geocoding support for official City addresses that are not associated with physical roadway<br /> 2 - OFFICIAL - Official dedicated City public ROW as outlined in the City Code of Ordinances<br /> 3 - PRIVATE - An established ROW not owned or maintained by the city<br /> 4 - UNOFFICIAL - An established ROW that has been digitized to support city operations and often associated with road ways in parks, parking lots, or institutional properties<br /> 5 - VACATED - An Official ROW that has been vacated via the City Code of Ordinances<br />FromLeftAddress / ToLeftAddress: Address range for the left side of the street segment as determined by digitized direction<br />FromRightAddress / ToRightAddress: Address range for the right side of the street segment as determined by digitized direction<br/>ActivatedDate: Date the feature was created. Please note that most features have a date of 11/18/2019 which is when a large database migration was completed<br />SHAPE: spatial type of the feature<br />MtfccId: Foreign key link to a lookup table of MAF/TIGER Feature Class Codes (MTFCC) that are utilized by the Census bureau to classify geographic features <br/>SHAPE.STLength(): Segment length based on the cartesian coordinates of the projected coordinate system.
