Description: All public conservation land is attributed with a 'recreation class' that defines the type of experience the topography and accessibility imply.The base dataset was an implementation of the Recreational Opportunity Spectrum (ROS) model (Taylor,P.C. 1993). This model incorporates ‘the activity, the setting and the experience’ of an area to produce a classification of the opportunity that the area offers. This was created in 2009 and has yet to be updated.The development of the ROS dataset into a more applicable, regionally focused visitor management zone (VMZ) dataset had been sporadic and hence, unless the Conservancy(at that time)had adapted the ROS dataset for their specific use into a regional VMZ, the default was to utilise ROS (2009) for the Conservancy as the Visitor Management Zone data.The organisations interpretation is identified in the Conservation Management Strategy documents which are a statutory requirement of the Department. Within these documents the visitor management zones are defined for the administrative area that the strategies are written for, they are also defined in map form. This dataset is reflective of those maps.
