Service Description: The TPWD Wildlife Division uses Pronghorn Herd Units (PHHUs) to help manage the pronghorn population in Texas. PHHUs were delineated using landscape features that apparently restrict pronghorn movement as well as pronghorn population data and habitats within an area. PHHUs were developed to collect survey and harvest data for the purpose of population monitoring and issuing hunting permits. These data are also used to make sound management decisions for the establishment of new seasons, season lengths, and bag limits.
