Description: Rivers/Creeks/Streams of Jefferson County Missouri and their Orders. Dataset was created by analyzing the waterways on a digitized version of the US Geological Survey's Quadrangle Topographic maps, as well as analyzing aerial imagery, and previous hydrological datasets created by other entities including FEMA and the Jefferson County Stormwater Division. The buffer distance is 25 feet. The buffer distance was previously 15 feet. Due to Code changes in 2017 to the Erosion and Sediment Control/Stormwater Management Design Criteria (Section 505.170), Stormwater Division regulation now requires all streams in Jefferson County that are designated as a Stream Order 1 to have a 25-foot buffer on each side of the stream beginning from the top of the stream bank. The buffer distance was increased to display a 25-foot buffer surrounding each Stream Order 1 in Jefferson County.
