Service Description: This is a web map that may be used to determine important spatial information regarding the social and place vulnerability of Humboldt County residents. The Map includes: community lifelines, special needs infrastructure, hazards, flood vulnerable infrastructure, and place vulnerability.
This web map depicts the results and layers associated with a county wide vulnerability analysis. Humboldt is a rural county located within the State of California. The geography of Humboldt County makes it especially at risk to flood from both river bodies as well as the many bays, lagoons and its coast. Additionally, Humboldt County is home to vast wild spaces and forests which may be at fire risk, especially in the dry season. Most of the infrastructure within Humboldt is located along the low-lying coastal regions and was built upon wetlands making it susceptible to sinking and land subsidence which may be heightened by seismic activity.
