Description:

Groundwater discharge (i.e., seeps and springs) are likely to occur in locations where an aquifer intersects the land surface (i.e., aquifer outcrops). The USF Ecohydrology Lab created a series of layers, based on a 10 ft digital elevation model (DEM) of the land surface and well log information recorded in the WELTS layer (this geodatabase), to depict the locations of aquifer outcrops in areas where WELTS data was available (Aquifer Study Area Layer, this geodatabase). The name of each aquifer outcrop layer reflects its position relative to the ground surface and to other aquifer outcrop layers, e.g. Top, Upper-Middle, Middle, Lower-Middle, and Bottom. The dimesions of each outcrop were calculated uusing an inverse distance weighted (IDW) function which included a vertical buffer of 15 ft and a horizontal interpolation limit of 10,000 ft. The 15 ft buffer and 10,000 ft inperpolation limit were selected based on field work conducted in 2018 and 2019 (Field Points layer, this geodatabase).
