Service Description: The data from Washington, DC shows the relationship of the census tracts with high and low incomes to the population percentage of people 25 or older that have higher education. The tracts with higher percentage of people with a bachelor’s degree or higher largely coincide with the tracts with higher numbers in per capita income, as seen in Figure 1. Although not all of the tracts with the high-income averages had a high percentage of population with higher education, nearly all of the tracts with lower incomes had a significantly lower percentage of population with degrees, which is shown in Figure 2. The map also shows that although the high-income tracts are near the center and move to the northwest of DC, the tracts with the highest percentage of higher education population is concentrated near the center, which is largely surrounded by low-income tracts.
