Description:

This feature layer depicts proposed* mechanical projects that are in the CO Front Range WCS landscape; currently the data is only for the Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands (PSICC). The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland (ARP) will upload their data when available.

*Proposed: These polygons represent proposed treatment areas only. No specific treatment units have been defined at this time.

Mechanical treatment of hazardous fuels means reducing the amount of vegetation which has built up to dangerous levels, or changing the arrangement of these fuels in the environment.  

Proposed projects are classified as Upcoming for those in 2024-2025, with Future for those in 2026-2029.

 

This layer is used in the Wildfire Crisis Strategy (WCS) CO Front Range Landsccape Web Experience.
