        <idPurp>Transportation data developed for the Mid-Swan project to use for project analysis. This is a draft dataset until NEPA process is completed.</idPurp>
        <idAbs>The data published is the result of the transportation analysis process completed for the Mid-Swan Restoration and Wildland-Urban Interface project. The Forest Service has jurisdiction on 567 miles of roads in (or connected to) the Mid-Swan project area, which includes an extensive network of logging roads on lands recently acquired by the Forest Service. Data for road location was originally obtained from the Forest Service corporate database and updated to match road locations visible in the high-resolution aerial photos for the area, flown in 2016, and refined using LiDAR bare earth data where available. Revised data was then used to update the road alignments in the project area and transferred back to Flathead National Forest GIS corporate road database. Existing data on State and private roads was obtained from the State of Montana, and spatially corrected where necessary. The non-Forest Service road data was utilized for analysis where required (grizzly bear) or informative (cumulative effects to water quality).
