Description: Assateague Island National Seashore (ASIS) Resource Management staff monitor ocean beaches weekly for enterococcus bacteria from early May through mid September. Also once a month, ASIS staff collects fecal coliform samples for the Maryland State Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene (MD DHMH). Fecal coliform sampling is performed in conjunction with the enterococcus sampling. Samples are collected from 6 sites weekly and an additional 2 sites in the State Park during monthly state fecal coliform sampling. This data set shows the locations of beach water quality sites in 2004.
