Description:

The areas within Yosemite National Park that are a designated no campfire zone and where campfires and wood burning are prohibited for visitors. Areas include land above 9,600 feet in elevation, within 1/4 mile of Kibbie Lake, the top of El Capitan, the top of Half Dome and the Upper and Lower Cathedral Lake drainages. Not included in this dataset are prohibited no camping areas and those no camping areas within 100 ft of trail and water. "Sierra" (twig) stoves are included in this prohibition. Specific restrictions for non Wilderness areas are not included.

In areas where campfires are allowed, visitors must only use an established campfire ring and may not build their own. Additionally, campfires need to be in legal places where a visitor can camp and should be at least 100 ft from water and trail using dead and down wood only. This information is provided to backcountry or Wilderness overnight travelers.

Additional no campfire areas can be declared at any time by the order of the Superintendent.
