Service Description: The purpose of this South Florida Natural Resource’s Center (SFNRC) project is to improve upon a previous digital elevation map (DEM) for a subset of the south Florida region, located primarily within the boundary of Everglades National Park (ENP). The previous DEM was a hand-drawn contour map constructed from a large extent, on the ground effort to obtain accurate elevation data for Everglades National Park initiated by the National Park Service in 1988. A series of transects measurements were collected across the Park using conventional surveying techniques. Over 9000 points were collected, primarily by Beadman surveying teams. This DEM is referred to in the rest of this document as the base DEM (filename: elev16).
