Description: The boundary for the Mount Whitney Management Area was delineated as part of the development of the SEKI Wilderness Stewardship Plan in 2015. The management area is an approximately 37,200 acre area around Mount Whitney within Sequoia National Park, roughly defined as bordered on the north by the Wallace Creek watershed, on the east by the Sierra Crest, and on the west by the lip of the Kern Canyon, and on the south by the Pacific Crest Trail. The geospatial boundary was defined using existing Wilderness Travel Zone boundaries, the park boundary, and other geographic features.
