The goal of this project is to create three platforms for experiencing the Newark Earthworks in Ohio.
<p><span style='font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;'>The image, “Newark Earthworks Salisbury draft map” is
considered the most accurate representation of the Newark Earthworks and has a
total of 28 georeferenced points. The points are aligned with intersections of
the railroad and 30<sup>th</sup> St. and Main St. and 30<sup>th</sup> St.
because they appear in the draft map and on the base map. The context
surrounding the Salisbury base map made the warping minimal and anchored the image
based on many points, rather than having an uneven dispersion. Other
georeferenced points, especially those of the earthworks are aligned with the
same map as “Newark Earthworks Salisbury map clean” which included using
“LicDEMCtr” (topographic) and “lic_dem” (elevation) layers to match the
existing mounds to the drawn ones. The topographic map was particularly useful
for corners where the snapping feature was used to align the edge features of
the Observation Circle, for example. Alignments of the Ellipse were discovered
and marked (point 19) based on the intersection of the existing roads, however,
the shape was distorted and became more oblong than it was later discovered to
be based on the recreated composite map “</span><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;'>Newark
