This map covers the entirety of the Newark Earthworks and uses control points on the South and West border of the image that align with roads on the base map. The “LicDEMCtr” (topographic) and “lic_dem” (elevation) layers were also used on this map, specifically to align embankments and mounds within the Great Circle, the Octagon, and the Observation Circle. Wrinkles in the map were especially noticeable on the embankment walls of the Octagon and in the circular enclosures surrounding the road leading from the Octagon to the NE. While georeferencing all of the maps, there were no alignment points for the Wright Square or the Ellipse; Measurements from literature provided dimensions and placements was determined from maps compiled from Brad Lepper’s composite creation map labeled “Newark Cherry Valley Ellipse based on several sources DRAFT”</SPAN></SPAN></P><DIV><DIV><P STYLE="margin:0 0 11 0;"><SPAN /></P><P><SPAN /></P></DIV></DIV></DIV> Digitized for National Endowment for the Humanities: Digital Humanities Advancement Grant (NEH DHAG).
