In the mid 1990’s The Florida Resources and Environmental Analysis Center (FREAC) had a project with the Bureau of Land Management to create the PLSS layer from the existing Digital Line Graphs (DLGs) that USGS had created. These were individual 1:24,000 quad sheet files at the time (1:24,000 scale maps have accuracy of approximately +/- 40 feet). FREAC created a seamless layer from those tiles and fix any attributes we found to be in error. They did not fix of any problems in linework that did not match the original ~1840’s plats. There were some issues discovered and documented on the quad sheets the linework was not altered. It is the most accurate linework reflecting the “true” PLSS for Florida. No new coastlines were added to the sections, the original DLGs were used.
