  "description" : "The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) adopted a context classification system, which was incorporated into the Florida Design Manual (FDM) in 2018. Since then, local agencies have expressed interest in applying context classification to local streets. To help local jurisdictions implement context-based planning and design, FDOT developed a statewide database of conceptual context classification areas. The GIS-based method for statewide preliminary evaluation of the context classification follows the FDOT Context Classification Guide. The feature layer may be used as a starting point for local agencies during planning and project development. Local agencies are encouraged to review and update the conceptual context classifications to fit their needs. No agency is required to use the information provided, and agencies that have already assigned context classification for local streets may continue to use their existing process.",
