This dataset was created by utilizing the various maps located on the Central Virginia Battlefields Trust website, as well as Spotsylvania County’s ‘PARCEL_VIEW’ geospatial dataset. The data was extracted from ‘PARCEL_VIEW’ through a query which extracted all parcels owned by the Central Virginia Battlefields Trust. The data was then checked against the maps that are made available by the Central Virginia Battlefield Trust on their website for each of the preserved battlefields, and any parcels that were originally omitted from the query were appended to the dataset. The data is updated on a quarterly basis, and was last revised in March of 2017.
